Coiffures pit their skills against one another for charity
THE South’s finest hairdressers will pit their cutting and colouring skills against one another as a competition takes place at Cowes Yacht Haven on April 19.
Scores of stylists are expected to battle it out in the competition, which will raise money for injured soldiers. The fundraising event, in aid of Help for Heroes, will also feature a catwalk presentation and demonstration from Jonny Engstrom, award-winning stylist and art director for trendy salon, Guy Kremer.
The competition has been arranged by the National Hairdressing Federation’s southern branch and organisers hope it will encourage stylists to unleash their flair and artistic skills.
Sue Braybon, from the federation, said: “We have so much talent when it comes to hairdressers on the island and in the south. We wanted to organise a competition to give them a chance to create some really avant garde styles and handle everything from the hair to the styling and makeup themselves. It’s something you don’t often get the chance to do in the salon unless you have a particularly adventurous client! We also wanted to raise some money for a good cause so we decided to donate all profits to the Help for Heroes charity, which is a cause close to our hearts.”
Ian Gregory, Events Centre Manager at Cowes Yacht Haven, added: “This is the first event of its kind at Cowes Yacht Haven and we’re really looking forward to seeing the creations on show. Help for Heroes is a wonderful charity and we hope everyone will come out to support it.”
The show starts at 7pm and entry forms and tickets, which are £20, are available from Maggie at H4 Hair & Beauty, 72 High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight or Cut Hair Salon, 62 Fairoak Road, Bishopstoke, Southampton. Alternatively, call 01983 524740 for an entry form to be emailed to you. Entry for the catwalk competition is free.
