Cowes Yacht Haven helps charity fundraisers
AN Isle of Wight venue is on a mission to take the stress away from event organisation for fundraisers. Cowes Yacht Haven, also host to Cowes Week, has launched a new package to make life easier for those organising charity balls and dinners. The new package means organisers pay one rate per head and Cowes Yacht Haven takes care of all the catering and security and advises on extras such as entertainment.
Cowes Yacht Haven’s Events Centre Manager, Ian Gregory, came up with the idea after speaking to customers. He said: “One of the best parts of my job is meeting ordinary people, with ordinary jobs, who take on extraordinary responsibilities to raise money for good causes. I meet a lot of people whose families have been helped by charities and they want to give something back by hosting fundraising events here.
"It is tough for people with no experience of event organisation having to arrange everything from venue hire and catering to entertainment and room decoration. After speaking to a few of them, I came up with the idea of putting a package together to take the stress away and make it simple.”
The package means organisers pay one rate per person, which includes hire of the events centre, a sparkling wine and canape reception, a three-course dinner and event security staff. Ian can also advise them on extras such as discos, bands and table decorations.
Ian said: “We’ve put all the pieces together so organisers only have to focus on selling tickets - it makes things a lot more simple. Obviously we’re always here if people need advice on other aspects of the event - we have a great deal of experience in organising huge events, so we’re more than happy to pass on our expertise.”
