Cowes Town Waterfront Trustees

Jeremy has been involved with the marine industry for most of his working life.  As a younger man he served his time as a boatbuilders apprentice in Falmouth.  For the last 30 years he has owned and managed SeaSafe Systems, a world renowned Lifejacket manufacturer, based on the Island. 

Jeremy moved to the Island 20 years ago and has held a number of voluntary posts including 6 years as a Cowes Harbour Commissioner and 5 years as Chairman of British Marine Isle of Wight.  He joined The Cowes Yacht Haven Board in 2018 and The Cowes Town Waterfront Trust Board in 2019 and is Chairman of both boards.

Mike served in the Royal Navy as a submarine officer before working for the Baltic Exchange in London.  Following a stint at a shortsea shipping company, Mike then established his own maritime PR and crisis communications agency in 2006 which he sold in 2022.  Mike has lived in Cowes with his family for almost 20 years and enjoys sailing, boating and cycling.

Mike lives in Cowes and is a lifelong yachtsman, having owned several racing and cruising boats over many years.  He is a practising solicitor and is the Admiral (and former Commodore) of the Royal Ocean Racing Club.  He has kept his boats at Cowes Yacht Haven since 2005 and is committed to ensuring the long-term success of Cowes Town Waterfront Trust for the benefit of the local community.

Julian is Chief Executive Officer, Global Markets, Commercial P&C at Sompo International. Prior to joining Sompo International, Mr. James led the international operations and Managing Agency at Lloyd’s for a global carrier. He served on the Council of Lloyd’s up until January 2019 and is currently a member of the Lloyds’s Market Supervision and Review Committee.
Julian has a house in Cowes and enjoys Sailing, Rugby and spending time with his family

Christine has considerable senior HR and Board experience with a career spanning both human resources and organisational development.  She has worked in a non-executive capacity for the Isle of Wight Training Group and Southern Housing Association and is currently a committee member of the Isle of Wight Ramblers.  She is employed part time as a non-legal member of the Employment Tribunal Service and deliberates on employment issues.  She also assists county court judges on non-employment discrimination issues. 

Christine has recently returned to Cowes, is a member of the Island Sailing Club and Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club and participates in race management during the summer.  She was appointed as a CTWT Trustee in January 2023.

Anthony has been closely involved with the Isle of Wight for over 20 years and moved here permanently in 2017. He has held senior Partner roles with major Management Consulting firms in the UK, US, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has worked with and developed strong relationships with the Management Boards of numerous Consumer Products and Retail companies, helping them to improve Marketing & Sales.  Anthony was a NED with a Digital CRM company in Cambridge and with the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore.  Anthony is committed to helping CTWT further develop their Marketing and Corporate Networking capabilities and also in helping attract increased Sponsorship.

Ross is a Chartered Surveyor and has specialised in investment management for over 25 years.  He was an Equity Partner at Cluttons LLP for many years and was CEO of its investment management business.  More recently he was Chairman of LSH Investment Management (LSHIM).  He is currently a consultant to LSHIM and holds a number of non-executive appointments. Ross moved to the Isle of  Wight in 2017 with his family and enjoys sailing.

Jackie is a chartered accountant with a career focused on financial services and regulatory reporting.  Alongside ensuring the rigour of processes and content for reporting to UK financial regulators, she has also had responsibility for the creating improved financial procedures and documentation. 
Jackie sits on both Cowes Yacht Haven and Cowes Town Waterfront Trust boards and keeps a close eye on all the finances.

Jackie is a keen sailor and has been a Cowes resident since 2003.

Michael is an International Hotelier, having worked across three continents and in over ten countries. Most recently he was the Area General Manager for the luxury portfolio of Hilton across the U.K. & I. Previously he was MD at The Savoy, and General Manager of The London Hilton on Park Lane.

Michael is a graduate of Surrey University, a Fellow of The Institute of Hospitality, and a Master Innholder and a Doctorate from the University of West London. He is a pension fund trustee and sits as a member of the Grant’s Committee for the Dame Maureen Thomas Foundation for disadvantaged children charity.

Michael has recently moved home to Cowes and has established a Villa Rental business on the island of Meganisi in Greece.  Michael is a keen sailor and enjoys rugby and general sporting pursuits.  He is a keen environmentalist and supporter of sustainability initiatives.  Michael was appointed a CTWT Trustee on 30th Jan 2023.

Chris was appointed in 2020 as the Company Secretary.  He works full time for Cowes Yacht Haven (having joined in 2019 as the Events Manager) and has recently taken on the role of Administrative Manager.

Chris has been a Director and Company Secretary of his family firm Leigh Thomas and Co Ltd since 2009.  He has sailed from Wootton Creek all of his life and now enjoys teaching his wife and daughter to sail.
